Do Not Fear.


Twenty-two years after selling Joseph into slavery, his brothers now stand before him as prime minister of Egypt. Gen. 42:6ff

They don’t recognise him, and he holds their fate in his hands.

If you’d been in his shoes, what would you have done? Gotten even? Reminded them of their past offences?


What did Joseph do?


He didn’t talk about it. ‘There was no one with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers’ Gen. 45:1.

Joseph made sure no one in Egypt would ever know what they’d done to him.

And isn’t that how God treats us?

The fact is He has enough on each of us to bury us, yet He refuses to resurrect our past sins.He does not not want to expose, embarrass, or humiliate us.


After Their father Jacob died,Joseph’s brothers were fearful that Joseph would take revenge on them Gen. 50:15-21, but Joseph said “do not fear” v19.

Joseph revealed the heart of God and forgave  and restored his brothers.

Fear  is instilled in us by the knowledge of our failures and the reminder of those failures by Satan who is also known as "the accuser of the brothers (us!!!) who accuses us night and day”. Rev 12:10.

We need to reject those accusing fear thoughts which have to do with our sense of deserving judgement just as Joseph’s brothers believed.


How do we do that?


‘Perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment’. 1 John 4:18 .

Fear comes as a result of a performance based belief about God’s love. That is when we think, "I have to EARN His love, and if I don’t perform well enough He won’t love me!”.

Listen,If while you were still a sinner He loved you,Rom 5:8, do you think He is going to love you less now that you are truly His child?

The prodigal son was still a son and still loved by the Father in the midst of his mess.

He still loves you and wants you back home where you belong, in His loving care.

It’s your mess that messes you up, God doesn’t do that.

God wants to clean up your mess so it does not weigh you down any more


Soak your heart in the cleansing water of God’s word, Eph 5:26, His word washes out drives out guilt, fear, condemnation.

God says to each one of us."Your sins and your lawless deeds I will remember no more”. Heb 10:17.

The blood of Jesus cleanses(continually keeps on cleansing) us from all sin.1.Jn 1:7.

He has never stopped loving you and is filled with compassion for you always.

His love is everlasting Jer 31:3.


Today live in the tender love your Heavenly Father has for you.

He wants to bless and provide for you just as Joseph did for his erring brothers Gen 50:21.

Like the prodigal son’s Father, He wants to embrace you, kiss you, and robe you in garments of righteousness 2 Cor 5:21, and He wants to bring you home as a son and throw a party on your behalf. Lk 15:20,22,23.

Remind yourself of these truths today.Fear has no place in your life.

Wash out fear with the truth of His Word and get filled up with Father’s love.

 WONDERS OF GOD!!






Over the last year I had been taking an opiate drug called Subutex. On July 23rd 2005 I was involved in a high speed head on collision with a double decker bus which left me unable to surf, play the guitar and eventually led to the break up of my 5yr marriage! I ended up living in a shared house at 46 with a bunch of kids who did precious little in the running of the house, leaving me to do most of the washing up and dispose of all the rubbish EVERY week!!

It got me through a particularly hard time, but it began to affect my daily life towards the end of the year, that’s when I tried to stop but the withdrawal symptoms were too hard! You really do feel awful, with sweats, chills and a craving for the drug!!

I was praying to God for someone to rescue me from this difficult and frustrating period. That is when I made contact with a girl called Rhoda. We were both on a website called Christian Connections and one evening as I was on the site and instant chat message from Rhoda came through saying “hi Dave”, I said hi back and we started to email each other! It was clear from the start that we got on well and just as it happens Rhoda had been planning a family trip to Cornwall but had to cancel it due to her mother’s foot getting injured in a freak accident. So still having a week off work to fill, she decided to come to Newquay on a really cheap one way train fare and stay in a cheap B&B. As I was already planning to go to Leeds to visit my son and family in Leeds I was able to run her back home!

It was very clear over the week that there was a special bond between us and we had so much in common!

Over the course of the week she noticed the Subutex in my daily pill box and that is when it all came out that I was basically addicted to Heroin!! Rather than being judgemental Rhoda was keen to help me off the stuff! She came with me to visit my family in Leeds and then on my way back to Newquay I stayed at Rhoda’s over to weekend. I went to her church on the Sunday where a couple of people got up and gave prophetic words the first one saying that the Breaker Angel was in town so if you were looking for breakthrough here was the place to be, the second came from a lady who runs a place called Kickstart, helping people get free from drugs!! She shared a word from Nehemiah saying how they rebuilt the temple ignoring the rubble around! At the end of the mtg there was an opportunity to go forward for prayer so  I went out and was prayed for by Barry the Pastor of the church.  .I was touched deeply by God as a result of that encounter.

It was obvious it was time to let go of the crutch of Subutex and although I had tried coming off in Newquay the withdrawal symptoms were too much for me to handle, I decided in light of the words given I could think of no better place to go through the “rattle” than with Rhoda’s support.

I drove up to Sheffield with enough Subutex to keep me going for a week slowly trying to wean off to make the rattle easier to cope with. However one Friday night I ended up taking my last 6ml all at once!

That was it then, I was bracing myself for a pretty hard rattle! Usually this kicks in after 3-4 days. Day 3 came, no rattle! Day 4 came, still no rattle! I remember talking with Rhoda on day 5, she was pleased I wasn’t rattling but I replied it was only day 5 and I was expecting to start rattling hard the next day! With Rhoda praying for me every day, amazingly I suffered no withdrawal symptoms! Then About 2wks in I woke up one day feeling so good it was like I had taken Subutex! I shared this with Barry the pastor of Rhoda’s church and he replied “that’s God” and he encouraged me to write down my experience.

I am pretty much overwhelmed by how gracious God has dealt with me through the last 6wks and I hope this will be an encouragement to you all!

Grace's healing testimony

My name is Grace Floyd, I am 22 years old, living in Albuquerque, NM, USA.

At age 14 I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by joint swelling, pain, high fevers, fatigue, and skin rash. I had the severest case, with debilitating symptoms in all of my joints from my jaw down to my toes and every joint in between. Devistated by the news I sought help from my church which was pastored by my father. They gathered 'round and prayed and ministered to me. I received prophecies from The Lord that He would heal me. I never doubted this for the 8 almost 9 years that I had had this illness. I have been prayed for by many including Bill Johnson, Randy Clark, Shawn Bolz, Graham Cooke, and of course my home church and friends. I have recieved certain degrees of healing over the years but God would choose to complete this the weekend of New Life City's 10 year anniversary conference.

 

Monday before the conference I attended NLC's college group where Mr. Barry Manson was our guest speaker. I was eager and excited to see the Spirit fall on us and have some soaking time in Him. Barry told a story about a Polish man who had his hip healed when Barry prayed for him. Near the end of ministry time I felt The Lord impressing me to ask him for prayer. It had been a long time since I had directly asked for prayer. Hope deffered makes the heart sick. I asked him to pray for me and immediately the Holy Spirit fell on me. I experienced a great deal of healing that night. Friday and Saturday nights Barry and Linda prayed for me again. A tangable shift took place in the spirit realm and my body. My body felt 100% better and in my spirit I heard my Father say it was over, my healing had been completed. I am able to do things that were not possible previously. I know full restoration is on it's way. My muscles are regaining strength with new movements I have not performed for nearly 9 years. I believe The Lord will restore the damage done to my joints and spine so that there will be no evidence I had ever been sick! I small part of this has already begun. I have grown 1 1/4 inches in the past week! This is almost unheard of for a 22 almost 23 year old. My growth was stunted by corticosteroids early on...I have renewed faith that this is only the beginning in my healing process. More is to come in my body as it is coming in my spirit!

MY HEALING

During 2009 I went to my GP to ask about the pain I was getting in my right rib cage. The initial diagnosis was gall stones and I was sent for a chest x -ray which came back clear. I was then sent for an ultrasound scan as I was still getting the pain and again I was told that there was nothing wrong and not to worry as everything was ok. This put me at ease for a while but I still got the pain which felt like a physical lump within my ribcage. I was in the meeting at Charis Church on the Sunday the 13th of June which was the day after the School of Impartation and Healing conference in Sheffield. There was an opportunity to those who were sick to come forward for prayer which I did and I explained my symptoms and this young couple started praying over me. The lady had word for me and asked if I was upset in any way and I said yes as there was a lady in the meeting whose church I was in for many years and I had left. I felt as though I needed to go and apologise to her and to ask her forgiveness. This was because while being a long standing member of her church with seemingly a good reputation. I was all the time in the church living a double life and doing things that I was ashamed of . I was reminded of James 5 v 16 which says confess your sins to one another and pray for each other that you maybe healed so we did that and from that moment the pain went and has not returned.

Miriam Cox was healed at Charis church on13th June. Here is her story...

When I was six my left leg was considerably longer than my right leg and I was going to have surgery on my right leg to lengthen it. Shortly before the surgery mum got the vicar at my old church to pray for my leg and it grew then and there. Then, I grew really rapidly when I was 11 and my legs became uneven again. It’s caused my spine to curve and pain in my hips. My hips used to hurt if I sat down for a long time, on a plane journey for example. However, the pain has been getting steadily worse for the past 18 months or so. It had reached the point when I was in pain pretty much all the time; I could hardly bear to sit for more than 5 minutes in lessons and the pain was keeping me awake at night.

Then, last week I went to a healing conference put on by Global Awakening. So many miraculous healings occurred there I can’t even begin to describe them all but people who had lost their sight got it restored, they were cured of chronic pain or metal plates and pins holding people’s bones together just disappeared to name a few. At the end they’d ask for people who wanted prayer for healing to go up but I didn’t).

On Sunday morning I decided to go to Charis to hear Leif Hetland preach. I wouldn’t normally dare to go to a service on my own but on Saturday night I felt so frustrated with myself for not going up for prayer and I resolved that I would ask someone to pray for me there.

Fab, by some strange coincidence was sat next to me and he started to pray. I could feel the Holy Spirit working through my legs, they developed a “pins and needles” sensation. When I came to stand I fell over! Cheriene and others were praying and my leg started to grow!! Joseph laid hands on my hips and the pain was intense and then it started to disappear!! Then I collapsed on the floor literally in a heap and rested in the presence of God for ages whilst still the prayer continued.

I sat through my A level exams last week without a hint of pain! I can sit crossed legged or in awkward positions, which I haven’t been able to do for years! I am totally pain free!

Amazing miracles! I am totally in awe.

Barry then asked me to give my testimony at church the week after, and so did my Youth Minister at All Saints but I shy away from public speaking. Barry really didn’t give me a choice! And suddenly I found myself at the front telling my amazing story which in itself is amazing! It gave me the confidence to then be able to do the same thing again at All Saints.

This week I had the courage to pray for a man at Charis and pass on the Healing that God has Bessed me with!

Doing what Jesus does

Jesus meets the disciples in the upper room( Jn 20). He tells them " as the Father sent me so I am sending you" ??????
Did he actually mean that we are to do the same works and speak the same words the same way as Jesus did???
Sounds incredible doesn't it!!!
 The words Jesus spoke were the words His Father gave Him to speak and the works He did were the works His Father showed Him to do. Jn 5.19...
Some one said if you are not living on the edge you are taking up too much space !!!!!
Jesus calls us to the same adventure of risk taking that the first disciples experienced for His kingdom's sake.
Time to get out of the boat and try a little water walking.............So, yes you may sink once or twice but Jesus will lift you up and encourage and equip you to keep walking. Don't stay in the "shallow" end anymore.

Charis Christmas Newsletter - December 2009

In our house the Christmas tree has been up for a week, the decorations are in place, so just in case I wasn’t aware, my family were quick off the mark to establish our “tradition” with the tinsel in place and the Christmas spirit flowing.

Now I am listening to Christmas songs old and new and there is much wrapping of presents already, but as I have been reminded its only a couple of weeks until Christmas.. wow !!!! It is really almost here again……

I should have realized it last week when I was driving in the city centre and wondered why there seemed to be an excessive amount of traffic on Sheffield’s roads, parking was almost impossible, and then it struck me …the Christmas rush was happening!!

What was it the angelic host said to the shepherds “Peace on earth..”..... “parking in Sheffield” was what I was thinking!!! but I gave up and came home!!!

Don’t get me wrong, it is great to give and receive presents at Christmas time but I wonder if the true meaning has gotten lost somehow

The wise men brought gifts to honour the arrival of the Saviour of the world and of course He is the greatest gift anyone can receive. For God so loved us that he gave us the gift of Jesus His only son, and if we will receive Him into our lives we get the best present ever…the gift of  Jesus and eternal life. (my paraphrase of John 3:16)

We have so much to be thankful for. Firstly and most importantly the gift of Jesus and the grace He offers us, and then of course all of the promises of God that find a resounding yes in Jesus Christ our Saviour, 2.Cor 1:20. He has come and brought with Him all His fathers blessings  to give to us!

Bing Crosby of “I’m dreaming of a White Christmas “ fame said.” Unless we make Christmas an occasion to share our blessings, all the snow in Alaska won’t make it white”. By the way, here is a great verse about snow. "Come let us reason together says the Lord, though your sins are as scarlet they shall be as white as snow". Isa 1:18. Jesus totally eradicated our sin so we are as white as snow in God's eyes. That's a great blessing to consider this Christmas time.

Christmas is such a special time but it should last all year.Even though the snow melts, God's unconditional love in Jesus remains intact, He always sees us whiter then the snow with no blemishes!!  So we have something wonderful to give as a gift to everyone we meet. Jesus and His cleansing renewing love for all mankind. That’s something we can all share this Christmas and throughout 2010.

So after the parking nightmares and finding the right presents plus getting the tree up and the decorations in place, spend some time thinking about the “Prince of Peace”, He’s the only one who can bring peace into our lives.He’s  the true gift of Christmas and the blessing that we need to receive and share with everyone we meet.
